All students met in the media center for an AP Research day focused on stress management techniques.

I have posted the rubric for the 30-source assignment to our shared Google Drive folder.

HW: Do something for yourself to make sure you're managing stress, but also work on your 30-source assignment.  Time management is an important aspect of stress management!

NEW DUE DATES FOR FINAL CHECK
9/17 (A) or 9/18 (B) by 11:59 PM:

30 Sources (15 additional) due in YOUR DRIVE on  the document shared with you- 6 from each source type

6-source progress check grade update:

If your grade dropped significantly after I entered the progress check it is due to late or incomplete work on the 6-source progress check assignment. This assignment is the first assignment in the major assignments category of the grade book. Therefore, it has a much larger impact on your grade than it will in a few weeks. It is weighted as "0.1." The 15-source check will also be weighted as "0.1."  Both are completion grades. The final assignment will be weighted as " 1. " If your work is of high quality, is on time, and is complete your grade on the final assignment should outweigh the low grades. With that said, here are some other ways your grade may improve.
  • If you earned less than an 80 on your 6-source check, but your 15-source check was on time and complete I will change your 6-source grade to an 80.
  • If you earn less than an 80 on your 15-source check, but your 30-source check is on time and complete I will change your 15-source grade to an 80.
If your assignments were late or incomplete, now is the time to make a change toward better managing your time, staying focused, and communicating with me on a regular basis when you are struggling. The ultimate way to ensure you do not see these types of grades in the future is to practice these habits DAILY.

Meet in computer lab to work on 30 source assignment. This is 1 of 2 remaining lab days for the assignment. You are responsible for managing your time.
General feedback:
  • Justification should be why the topic is significant to YOUR research, not just why it is reliable.
  • Justification should be specific to the source list you have placed the source in. Ex: If you placed the source in research methods then you should explain why it is a good choice for research methods.
  • Do not just copy and paste sources in random places. I AM reading these.
  • Analysis is the correct noun form of the verb analyze. Analyzation is not correct.
  • For this assignment, books should only be used for open or historical sources UNLESS they are  collections of peer-reviewed work.
  • Only open sources and historical sources ARE NOT peer-reviewed.  Current climate, methods, and discipline-specific should be peer-reviewed. Still struggling with how to tell? JUST ASK!
  • FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS! The Slides document contains instructions for this assignment. Don't understand them? JUST ASK!
