PowerPoint Requirements:
Professional appearance: follow nickel rule for ALL slides except title, appropriate colors, font sizes and styles, image sizes (use cited images or diagrams to support your research- unrelated images are not appropriate) Time: 15 minutes minimum, 18 minutes maximum NO NOTECARDS!!!! Title slide: Research title, Name, Date of Presentation Abstract slide Research Question Slide Intro/Purpose of Experiment- explain your reason for choosing the study and the goals of the study Background slides (can be broken up into categories- prior research MUST be part of the background, do not simply provide definitions of important terms) Hypothesis slide- at this point you should be very comfortable with your hypothesis, it should also be bulleted! Methods slide(s)- bulleted and still follows nickel rule Results- graphs and data tables should be full slides- you should be able to discuss the data without bullet points on that slide (but you may have a follow up slide after the graphs or data tables), all graphs and data tables must be fully explained, statistical tests must be present- be prepared to fully discuss the significance of your results Hypothesis slide- restating your hypothesis allows your audience to fully understand how your data supports or does not support your hypothesis. Support for hypothesis- explain how your data supports or does not support your hypothesis Major findings Explanations for findings Improvements/Problems with study Future Studies Implications/Recommendations Adding to the field International Relevance Acknowledgements References (only those used in the presentation)
