What did we do in class today?
Check mailbox and pick up plicker cards
Pick up two half sheet diagrams from the table by the mailbox and place in BILL Warm-up: What is the role of ATP in a pathway involving a G Protein-Coupled Receptor? 1. Plicker quiz over reading 2. Complete cell signaling notes 3. Discuss Cyclins and CDKs 4. Introduce Chi-Square Analysis HW: Large bag of PLAIN m&ms for class tomorrow, Read and take notes over section 13.3 (pages 253-258) pay particular attention to the diagrams in this section

Warm-up: Sketch a general model for cell signaling (starting with the cell membrane). Label and explain all parts and steps. 1. Reading quiz: cell division 2. Discuss remediation oppurtunity 3. Notes: Cell communication 4. Mendel Stations HW: Read pages 214-218 in textbook over signal transduction cascades-Take notes in BILL Bring a large bag of plain m&m's to share with a partner Thursday. To clarify- notes will be allowed on the quiz and should be taken in the BILL. **I forgot to remind you about the m&m's in class today so they will not be due until Thursday, 10/1.** No warm-up Plant appreciation food day 1. Mendelian genetics stations (Create pocket for station activities) Station 1: Information about Mendel Station 2: Important terms Station 3: Monohybrid crosses Station 4: Pedigree Analysis Station 5: Mendel's Laws Station 6: Mendel's experiments HW: Due Monday, 9/28- Cell cycle and cancer click and learn. Complete hand out and make pocket in BILL. Click "Start Click and Learn" at the following link http://www.hhmi.org/biointeractive/eukaryotic-cell-cycle-and-cancer Tuesday, 9/29- Ch. 12 Reading Quiz (take notes in BILL)
Test Day
BILLs will be returned tomorrow HW: Journal Article Graphic Organizer due tomorrow Food day tomorrow Photosynthesis lab due tomorrow Warm-up: Explain why glycolysis is evidence for shared evolutionary history for all life.
1. Cellular respiration notes 2. Review if time permits HW: STUDY! Test tomorrow. Food day Friday, Lab due Friday, Article graphic organizer due Friday Warm-up: Explain why CAM and C4 plants evolved. What are the reactants and products of the light reactions? The Calvin Cycle?
1. Photosynthesis lab 2. Cellular respiration notes HW: Instagram comment due 11:59 PM and Enzymes and energy check for understanding questions (answer in BILL, see below): 1. Sketch an enzyme and label the active site, the enzyme itself, and a location that may have non-competitive inhibition 2. Explain the role of energy in chemical reactions. 3. Explain the relationship between enzymes and energy. 4. Sketch a graph showing the differences between reactions with and without enzymes. 5. Use your textbook to define allosteric regulation of enzymes. How does it differ from competitive and non-competitive regulation? 6. Explain induced fit and how it enhances enzymatic reactions. 7. List the environmental factors that influence enzymes. Explain how they affect reactions. 8. Explain how organelles with increased surface area can produce more product. Pick up light reaction and cellular respiration diagram by the mailboxes.
Warm-up: Explain water's involvement in the light reactions. Begin labeling the light reaction diagram with the steps we know. Lab moved to tomorrow. I will stamp your pre-lab while you work 1. Photosynthesis notes 2. Gibb's guided practice 3. Photosynthesis summary and transpiration HW: Instagram due by 11:59 PM on Schoology, Use chapter 9 in textbook and video notes to help you complete #1-3 on the cellular respiration diagram. Reminders: Unit Exam 3 Thursday Journal Article Graphic Organizer #1 due Friday Plant appreciation food day Friday Choose a vegetarian food (cannot just be fruit or chips bring a dip or something to go with it) Make a label for your food including the following: Name of food Plant part: Choose one ingredient and discuss what part of the plant it comes from (leaves, flower, etc) Allergy alert: Note if it contains nuts, grains, dairy, or soy Lab Notebooks in red bucket (standing up please), pick up photosynthesis lab hand out. Warm-up: Why do you think the zucchini has the most catalase? Are you more or less likely to eat any of these foods as a result of our experiment? Why or why not? 1. Nobel Prize Presentations 2. Gibb's 2. Photosynthesis notes HW: Pre-lab for photosynthesis on a separate sheet of paper, Gibb's extension questions on POGIL Photosynthesis lab video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vw8baZO89oc Gibb's Free Energy Practice Problems (to be completed by test day):
Warm-up: Explain why having multiple thylakoids is important to the function of the chloroplast. Why do chloroplasts appear green to our eyes?
