Unit Exam 6
HW: Complete Enzyme and Photosynthesis Labs Enzyme Lab: you will have graphs for the different food types and your individual experiments. Discussion and analysis should address BOTH experimental designs. Be sure to follow the outline for setting up a proper lab write-up. Photosynthesis lab: Follow the instructions in the lab handout for proper graphs. If, for some reason, you did not get usable results in your self-designed experiment, make a very clear note explaining why you do not have a graph for that section. Your discussion should address reasons as to why you think this occurred. Upcoming Dates 4/29: Test corrections in class and time to review past multiple choice 4/30: SGM and review using mind maps 5/1: Mind map review and food day if desired 5/2: Final exam 5/3: Review for AP Exam begins Study Ideas: Get your own review book to write in Use the CollegeBoard website to practice multiple choice and free response Use the video resources we've used in class to help refresh your memory of concepts Make quizzes from your BILL notes and take them the next day Retake quizzes Nutrient Cycles and Succession
Learning Target: I can describe how disruptions in ecosystems can lead to predictable patterns of regrowth. Warm-up: Complete cougar handout Pick up handouts by mailboxes. 1. Phosphorous Cycle 2. Calculations 3. Ecological succession HW: Study for test tomorrow Nutrient Cycles

No warm-up, pick up iRespond and 2 handouts by mailboxes 1. Closed note quiz: Enzymes and Energy 2. POGIL 3. Nutrient cycles 4. Populations and Gibbs practice Nutrient Cycling
Learning Target: I can describe the use of the nutrients in each cycle. I can describe the outcome of imbalances in each nutrient cycle. Pick up nutrient cycles and iRespond handout by mailboxes No warm-up 1. Populations open note quiz 2. Photosynthesis and Respiration Review 3. Gibbs FE practice 4. Carbon cycle HW: Study for closed note quiz over enzymes, cellular respiration, and photosynthesis Cellular Respiration
Learning Target: I can describe the role of electrons in the production of ATP. Pick up cellular respiration handout and whiteboard by mailboxes. Warm-up: Complete 1-3 on POGIL 1. Complete cellular respiration notes 2. Gibbs FE practice Videos used to support electron transport notes in class: highered.mheducation.com/sites/9834092339/student_view0/chapter7/electron_transport_system_and_atp_synthesis.html highered.mheducation.com/sites/9834092339/student_view0/chapter7/electron_transport_system_and_atp_synthesis.html vcell.ndsu.nodak.edu/animations/atpgradient/movie-flash.htm HW: 1. Watch and take notes in your data analysis section over the populations video linked below www.bozemanscience.com/logistic-growth AND complete the Gibbs calculation for the A+B -> AB problem on the handout from class today. 2. Closed Note Quiz Wednesday 3. Enzyme and photosynthesis labs due NEXT MONDAY. Photosynthesis and Free Energy
Learning Target: I can apply principles of free energy to various reaction examples. Pick up lab handout, Gibbs Free Energy POGIL, and lab notebook. Warm-up: Complete pre-lab in your lab notebook, add your video notes to your lab notebook. 1. Photosynthesis lab 2. Gibbs POGIL during 10 minute wait time. HW: Watch and take notes over cellular respiration video below http://www.bozemanscience.com/cellular-respiration Photosynthesis
Learning Target: I can describe the role of electrons in the production of glucose during photosynthesis. Warm-up: When observing the overall equation for photosynthesis, the light reactions produce oxygen which is not as useful to the plant as glucose. Why are the light reactions still necessary? Pick up lab notebook 1. Photosynthesis diagrams and checkpoint questions throughout 2. Gibbs Free Energy Open Note Quiz 3. Enzyme lab work session HW: Watch and take notes in your BILL http://www.bozemanscience.com/013-photosynthesis-and-respiration Watch and take notes on a separate sheet of paper for pre-lab http://www.bozemanscience.com/ap-bio-lab-4-plant-pigments-photosynthesis Enzymes
Learning Target: I can explain properties that influence enzyme function. Warm-up: Describe how temperature and pH influence enzyme function. 1. Enzyme discussion 2. Photosynthesis introduction 3. Enzyme metaphor cartoons and choose Nobel Prizes Enzyme Metaphor instructions: Draw cartoons that are metaphors for the following situations:
HW: In the stats section of your BILL, watch and take notes over the following video for an open note quiz tomorrow https://paul-andersen.squarespace.com/gibbs-free-energy Helpful video (not required for photosynthesis) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g78utcLQrJ4 |
